Codes and Conventions of Short Films

INSIDE

•The central protagonist in this short film is introduced at the very beginning with no kind of hesitation at all. They are focused in the film way all the through.
•Usually the equilibrium is achieved throughout the text however disequilibrium is generally achieved very quickly and doesn’t really get to the state of the new equilibrium.
•The use of characters is limited in this film; there are about three to six characters involved.
•The narrative of the film is never fully given away so an optional reading is usually the way a short film text is usually read.
•The plot of short films is very weird and hard to get into as there is no real introduction given to the viewers; basically the audience has been thrown into the piece of text straight away. This film is in a police cell so its quite weird and strange.
•There is aa catch or twist towards the end of the short film which makes the audience understand the text even more and generally makes it makes sense why there is no introduction.
•This short film only lasts a short time obviously, about six minutes plus, with a short sharp storyline.

NEIGHBOUR (Future Short DVD)-

•The editing within this short film isn’t very complex at all in any kind off way, and it is very unusual to see the use of special effects, which tells the media audience that short films have low budgets to work on.
•The sign of low budgets can also convey and backed up by the titles used as they are on a black background with white text or another common plain colour.
•Throughout the film the type of genre throughout changes which is why the twist is also used in this film so that it gives the audience a good idea what genre the film actually consists off.
•In this short film emotions are shown in different ways which are expressed to create drama, conflict and confusion.

DE LA MANANAON (Future Short DVD)-

•This film has a very strange narrative as it is very hard to follow, not only because it is in black and white but also because it’s about a person who starts singing in Spanish along with others.
•Again the genre shown towards the audience changes throughout the film but yet again there is a twist towards the end which makes sense of the film and the genre is eventually revealed.
•At the start of the film the central protagonist is focused on at the beginning straight away generally using close up images of them throughout the film.
•The title sequence is a plain black background with white writing which signifies a low budget.

ABOUT A GIRL (Cinema 16 DVD)-

•This short film shows the characters emotions and feeling by representing there surroundings looking at the social realist approach.
•The narrative of the story is very wierd as it starts off with no introduction as the audience are thrown into a scene which for them could be related for any type of purpose.
•The central protagonist is a younger girl who is a teenager who exsplains different parts to her life mainly concerntrating on the dramatic points such as crime and other things ossociated with the cause of drama and conflict.
•There is also like most short films a twist invovled which is very wierd even though it makes sense at the end of the film what the narrative is and the point of making the production.
•You can tell it's a low budget production as the title sequence is very plain and simple with a plain black background and a white serif font, there are no special effects at all.

JOY RIDE (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This short film also has a twist as the beginig and end are set in the same postion and the same things occur, in a way the narrative is exactly the same.
•The whole narrative is straight forward but at times it is quite stange as things which happen in the film are un-expected by the audience.
•Yet again it is about emotional expressions and features because the central protagonist goes through a range of emotions so it is difficult to say which genre type the film belongs to.
•There is also the act of drama which is carried throughout the film where something goes wrong like when he gets kidnapped which is then when the drama and conflict start to come into play and the narrative develops.
•Again there are no use of special effects, basic propps are used in real life terms and conditions.
•The titles are a plain white background with a plain white serrif font with a simpe movie soundtrack ove the top.
•The central protagonist is filmed and shown in the opening shot straight away using close up images to signify this.

EIGHT (Cinema16 DVD)-

•The central protagonist is show at the very begining of the short film and followed throughout.
•The camera work is very shakey which could signify that it is a low budget and used in a documentary style, this is also backed up by the title as they are black and white also.
•The narrative is very strange and there doesnt seem as though there is any point in the narrative which is being used, but when the twist is revealed the narrative all makes sense, so in a way the twist is a conclusion which raps up the film as a whole.
•The narrative is all centered around the cenral protagonist and a voice over is used to express the characters opinions as well as what is going on, in the screen. There are lots of emotional features to the narrative which cause types of drama and understanding of a social realist text.

THE SHORT AND CURLIES (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This piece of short film text is very hard to understand as there are two sides to it and this is shown by simply switching between different characters.
•This is a piece of text showing things which happen in a day to day life of a person, in this case it is a girl who goes to work and likes geetin her hair done and spends time with her boy friend.
•As i have already said there are two sides to the narrative but each of them show different emotions, this is seen as binary opostion.
•The titles used are black and white which signifys a low budget.

TELLING LIES (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This is a very strange short film as there is no action on screen at all there is just text which is being spoken by charcters which are not visible.
•The titles were different as the font was coloured, but there was still a black background which signifys a low budget.
•Throughout the narrative which can only be heard, however there are variations of emotions which create the drama, but again it's all about real life issues from a normal person.
•This may be strange to see nothing on screen except text, but this is what short films are about (like are meant to be as wierd as possible towards the audience).

INSIDE OUT (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This has a very strange narrative as there is no dialogue at all involved.
•However there is music played over the top of what is being played on screen, the music which is played gives away the genre, which is a roncom, but towards the end it may change as the whole film seems fairly pointless and wierd.
•There are two main characters which are the main centre of attention by the camera using the 180 degree rule and various close up shots.
•The overall narrative shows real life aspects on how and what people do in there lives.

GASMAN (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This film has a very strange and out going narrative about a family who have a socio economic group of being the lower working class citizens.
•The narrative of the story is very wierd which makes the genre type very difficult to draw out, however it is based on a normal working class person going to a social party at christmas time so there is signs of the social realist aspect.
•The camera work is very shakey which could be signified by a documentary style and low budget.
•The music used is played over the back of what is on screen which fits in with the happy mood whilst they are at a christmas party.
•The titles at the begining are plain white with a black background and at the begining the audience is thrown into the film as there is no slow introduction.

BOY AND BICYCLE (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This short film has a very strange narrative concept, as there is no real introduction as the audience is thrown straight into a random scene.
•The titles are black and white which could represent that the film is based on a documentary style or could even signify that the film is on a low budget.
•The central protagonist is shown straight away at the begining of the film as the camera follows the character constantly.
•When the camera is in use the actual camera work is shakey which also signifies this has something to do with a documentary style aspect.
•The character involved is dressed in scruffy clothes as he looks as if he is part of a working or lower class group, this could also be signified by the way he speaks (using old style slang).

UK IMAGES (Cinema16 DVD)-

•There is no introduction within the narrative of this story, as the audience is thrown straight into the first scene.
•The characters are followed by the camera (as if they are being storked) this is shown by the camera being used using the point of view shot, this also makes the camera work shakey which signifies a documentary style.
•The characters are being filmed on a general day of there life and it seems as there is no real point of the film as it does'nt make sense.
•The characters used are normal people, however the way they talk especially taking note of there accent they are the lower, working class people.
•The camera uses close up shots of the central protagonist to make sure the audience know who the character actually is. Also there is use of long shots using over the shoulder shots to see what the main character is looking at.
•There is the use of voice overs, this is generally used when the camera uses a close up to emphasize the emotions of the character and how it links in with the voice over and what is being said.

WHO'S MY FAVOURITE GIRL (Cinema16 DVD)-

•The camera angles in this are straight forward however at some points it is a little bit too shakey at times which is showing a point of view shot and could signify a documentary style.
•The central potagonists are shown straight away in the short film with the camera using close up shots using a point of view shot using the tracking method of the camera.
•The characters are young characters, however by the way they are dressed and the area they live in i would associate them as lower, middle class citizens.
•The music which is used is played at the end, this is because there is a twist at the end and makes the whole narrative of the story fit togather (it's like a mini conclusion).
•In a way it is a social realist text as it is the following of two boys showing the events of drama in there daya to day life experience.

THE SHEEP THEIF (Cinema16 DVD)-

•The titles are very simple in this production as they are on a black beacground with a standard coloured text which could signify a low budget.
•The main characters are young people who live in a Asian country and it's all about a boy who steels sheep. The country he lives in is very poor so the socio economic class type would be lower class or working class.
•The narrative is very strange as it says what the title gives us, however it is a narrative enigma why the sheep are stolen.
•It is strange in a way that you have tom read what is being said verbally as it is in a different language.
•The film speaks for itself as there is a lot happening on screen.
•The camera is always focused on the central protagonist and especially uses close up shots to emphasize this.
•As the narrative is very wierd it is set in a real world where normal day to day life happens which shows the social realist aspect however the steeling of the sheep in the drama and conflict which makes the audience want to watch further.
•The music used fits the purpose of the setting and relates back to the suroundings show on screen.

HOME (Cinema16 DVD)-

•The central protagonist is the first character show on screen by using a close up image of him.
•The music used is very strange, however this fits in with the strange, wierd narrative concept.
•The key narrative is very strange as there is no introduction at all. The charcter goes around different houses and inspects them as he is a council worker and the places on screen are very shabby and rough so i thin the class would be lower, working.
•The titles are yet again plain white serif font with a plain black background.
•The camera work at some points is very shakey which signifies there is the use of a point of view shot.
•There are no special effects used at all, every camera angle is done manually.

•There is no introduction at all, as the audience is thrown straight into the film.
•The narrative is very strange and over emphasizes the problem which the character has (dramatic).
•The central protagonist is how at the very begining with a close up of there eyes (which is used in the opening title).
•There is no dialogur to the text which includes voice overs.
•Towards the end the story seems pointless and stupid however there is a twist which then makes the audience realise what all the fuss was about and why the narrative is so strange at the begining.

THE GIRL CHEWING GUM (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This film again has a ver strange narrative as it is,nt a story about somebody in particular.
•There is a voice over of a character who you never see on screen however it seems he is dominant and in control (a director of a film.
•The most popular camera angle which is used is the long shot, but could also be a point of view shot as the camera is the character who we never see on screen but we constantly her his voice.
•There is no introduction as it is like we as the audience are put into somebody elses life to see what they do so it has the social reakist aspect also.
•There is one title at the begining and end which is on a plain black background and the text on it is in a plain white serif font.

Je T'iame JOHN WAYNE (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This is a film with a twist, however the begining is the twist at the end so the begining of the film is a flash back when the end is reveiled.
•This film is presented in a very strange way as the central protagonist speaks English in some parts but in other parts he speaks French, which also happens in some of the voice overs.
•Different emtions are show in this film all the way through which create the drama and build up to the ending and twist towards the ending.
•The central protagonist is shown at the begining and the camera all the way through the film uses a close up of him to emphasize the emotions and feelings.
•The titles at the end again are a white serif font with a plain white background with shows a documentary style which it is as it follows the central protagonists day etc. Also the titles show a low budget.

DEAR PHONE (Cinema16 DVD)-

•This film has one of the strangest narratives but is a very creative way of making a short film without using any charcacters.
•The titles at the begining and end are very basic with a plain white background with text coloured in a plain dull colour, this signifys a low budget.
•There is the use of a voice over reading some text (in this case a letter) on screen and then the screen switches to a phone box each time the text is read out, so the narrative is very secretive as there is a coversation without ant characters at all.

ON S'EMBRASSE (Future Shorts DVD)-

•The central protagonist is shown as the first character as the camera is using the tracking method and close up shots.
•The title used are on a black background with plain white text with could signify a low budget or a documentary style.

•The camera throughout the narrative and story line uses close up shots to express the characters feelings and emotions.
•Different emotions are used in this short film which creates the genre and drama and whole story as there is a twist at the end.

LA BARBICHETTE (Future Shorts DVD)-

•There are 3 main characters which are the central protagonists, this is shown by the camera using close ups at the very begining.
•The genre of the film is,nt very clear at all as it changes the audiences mind throughout the production, however at the end the film is rapped up and the genre is then recognised.
•The variation of close ups are used to show the emotions of the characters.
•The titles are again on a black beackground coloured with the white text, to signify a low budget and a documentary style.
•There are no special effects used at all.

•The characters emotions are shown as piont of view shots from the other characters perspective of just basically by close ups.
•The two central protagonists are shown at the begining by using close up images and shots of there faces.
•The totles are black and white which shows low budget and a documentary style.
•This is a narrative where the camera follows a characters life so it is a documentary of the two characters life (one area of it).

I JUST WANT TO KISS YOU (Future shorts DVD)-

•There are two main central protagonists in thsi film which are shown right at the start of the movie by using close up images and they are togather in a room (no one else is around).
•The begining of the story links back towards the end as if it,s a cycle (like every day is the same).
•The story line and narrative concept is very wierd in some aspects as it goes straight into a scene where the two characters are getting ready in the bathroom, there is no real introduction.
•The camera follows the two characters where ever they go so in a way it's like a point of view shot or could be seen as a tracking technique.
•The general narrative is very strange, but it's basically showing a documentary of the two characters day where they go to the pub etc.
•The music which is used fits in with the characters (stupid and funny), it is also used to speed up time so things happen quicker.
•The titles at the end are over layed by what the camera is focusing on, however the text is white which signifies a low budget.

•The central protagonist is how on screen at the very begining.
•The titles are white with a black background which signifies a low budget or even a documentary which it is in certain ways as the camera is following the central protagonist around (point of view).
•Lots of close ups are used of the centre character because it shows his emotions and feelings with the expressions on his face.
•A voice over is used and at the same time the camera is pointing in the correct direction of what is being talked about so a point of view shot is used.

ELEPHANT -

•This film is only very short just over 3 minutes.
•The title used are black and white which signifies a low budget production or a documentary style.

•The use of black and white titles signify a low budget film and a documentary aspect.
•The central protagonist is the first character shown on screen.
•There is not a introduction, however it is hard to think of the genre towards the end because scary music was played at the begining however there is a major twist which in a way is a conclusion which makes the audience understand what type of genre the film is and why the film was showed in that particular way at the start.
•Close up shots are positioned on the characters to amphasize there emotions and also long shots are used after the twist is revealed so the audiences reaction to the film changes.

ONE SHOT (Short Film Complication 2003-2004 DVD)-

•This film is based on true events however the narrative is very strange because there nothing on screen at the begining at all, but gradually a face fades onto the screen.

•The titles are black and white which signifies a low budget or a documentary style, which in a way it is because of the voice over telling the audience what is on screen.

•lastly the central protagonist is mainly shown by close up shots so the audience feels he is th one to watch as he is important in the whole narrative.

Ancillary Texts Final Production 2

For this piece of ancillary text i am going to produce a magazine review which i will include particular features which i have found out when researching into the coddes and conventions of magazine reviews on films-

•For this i plan to have a small section at the top off the page where i can show a small image of the reviewer, there name and what they do.
•I want to add a brief plot summary of the film underneath a sub heading.
•Then i will create a paragraph on the actual review giving the stengths and negatives of the film, the language of the has to be informal so i have to include some slang to keep the consistancy with the main target audience.
•Also with the review i want to have a small part where we can interview one of the main characters asking them questions on what they thought the film was like behind the scenes etc.
•I want to have a verdict where i can sum up the film in a few words, but i would also like to have a star rating to show what it can achieve and why the public or target audience should go and watch it.
•Down the left hand side of the review i want to have a small section which has the casts name, the director, the certificate (BBFC rating), the duration of the film etc.
•Most importantly i want to add an image which will reflect some parts of the film where the characters are in action or i could show the poster.

Driven Away Movie Magic PDF

Evaluation Part 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

There are many ways in which my media project has developed and challenged forms and conventions of real media products in various ways. As my media product is a short film it uses many of the common conventions that are parts of real media short films. For example in my film we have used normal people, not stars (Richard Diers Star System).

My media product is around three minutes long which is suitable for a short film, not too long or short. When i researched into short films i also recognised the common convention off a twist towards the end, i have also used a twist in my short film to challenge the audiences undersatanding, this is an important part to my film as it concludes the story which finalises it to the audience. I feel as though my film challenges other short film products as the common types of genres used are horror and mystery, usually the more serious acts to connect with the older target audience, my film however is a teen drama which is not commonly used in the making of short films as i have tryed to make it as dramatic as possible.

I have found it hard to challenge the way in which a short film product can be produced because they all usually are home made productions with tight budgets or no whats so ever just like my product. On the other hand i have tryed to challenge other short film media products by using propps to an extreme level, not just costume or some kind off object. I have used cars as part of my propps, which come at an expense, luckily i was able to persuade my friend to use his car in my film. One convention we have used which is used within other short film media concepts is the use of black and white titles as this signifies a low budget production and reflects a documentary style as my film also draws in the aspect of the social realism as it is about real people and what they do in there lives and what actually happens in the real world. I have used some parts of Todorov's theory using the aspects of the seven character types as i have used the evil villan, the princess and the hero, which makes sense of the storyline as it is driven in a cycle.

Within my media product i have tried to challlenge other media texts, This has been very hard to do so i hvae been influenced by others as i have used lots of intertextual references. As our film is a teen drama i have took things from Skins such as the party aspect looking into teen life and culture drinking and taking drugs etc, also with the soundtrack and costumes which we have used as this is also part of the teen culture with the heavy dub step beats and jeans and t shirts with females in dresses etc, but also the cating who we have used have intertextual reference with Skins so much because they are normal people from a local area so the accent doesnt matter however it wouldnt appeal to the US audience as there are no southern characters playing any types of roles, but still hearing there accents the audience will recognise the steriotype of a northern production. This is the main intertextual reference however there is intertextual reference with films such as Rebel Without A Cause and Kidulthood as there is the same aspect between the love triangle with two male characters fighting over a female. From allof the teen avovled movies which i have watched i have taken small aspects into consideration but overall i have learnt how to use the characters to attract the correct target audience. Another way in which i have challenged other media products is that i have produced a teaser poster which many of the british films dont do as there films are put straight onto DVD, so they would have had trouble on getting on the cinema screens and magazines however i would be able to have a chance at showing my film in magazine reviews etc and especially on the big screen.

If i was to do this again i would like to challenge other short film media products even more by using more high tech equipment such as the crane camera, i would have used this when we filmed the last shot of the female character summer laid on the floor so that we could have zoomed out to show the surroundings and created more emotion and juxposition. I would have also liked to have been more extreme with the car scene by making the two cars crash into each other however i wouldnt have had the facility to do this as we would have needed stunt drivers and experts to make sure nothing would go wrong, but to do all of this we would need a higher budget and that would really push away the concept of a short film as it is about being creative and using your own imagination.

Ancillary Texts Final Production

For this piece of ancillary text i am going to produce a poster by taking the key codes and conventions which i have researched throughout by looking at different posters-

•I am going to have a big bold title which stands out towards the audience in big bold font, but keeping it clear and visible to read.
•I am gong to add a main central image to the poster by having the three main central protagonists in the centre of the page (the female in the middle of the two male characters).
•I am going to have a tag line to attract the target audience and make them want to watch our film. This will go underneath the title.
•I am also going to use wording such as 'Introducing.....' and 'Starring.....' to make it seem professional and to introduce the characters to the public as they will not be well known.
•I will add the small print at the bottom of the page so that i can add the characters name. Along with this i will also add a website address just like i did when i produced the teaser poster.
•Along with the small text i will add our product company logo and star rating.\

Below is my first at temp and process at making the film poster towards my film-

Audience Feedback-

•There is no website address.
•The main theme is the car head lights and there is no point where this is signified.
•The tag line gives away the storyline too much.
•The characters are just placed in any random place.
•There is no release date for the target audience and where it will be shown (cinema, dvd etc).

Below is my second attempt to my poster following my audience feedback-

Below is my final attempt at the poster for my film. i have totally changed the concept by inter grating the characters and the main prop which is the car using the headlights to create juxtaposition. i much prefer this design rather than the ones above as this one keeps the house style with the film and the teaser poster which i created earlier in another post on the blog.

Below are the orgional images before editing them however i dont have all off them. I didnt use Google images at all or any other resource, this was all my own photography and my own work so there are no copyright issues etc.

Final Cut

This is my final cut which i have produced on final cut, and i am very pleased with the final outcome and the whole package including the ancillary texts.

Below is my final which i have altered from the previous one (improvement)-

Rough Cuts

Below is our rough cut, which concludes all of the clips we have filmed however there is no music to it yet so i have added titles to show where this will occur, i have also done this when the clips are meant to be speeded up-

Audience Feedback-

•Intercutt the first clip to make time look as if it goes on.
•When the clips have been intercutt add different music to make the time seem as if it goes on even faster.
•Add a sound track for the car scene to draw in a wider audience.
•Add a clip at the begining to craete more juxpostion.
•Add a clip inbetween when the two females start arguing inside until they go outside.
•The car scene is very effective but the clips need to be shortened.
•Alter the voices so you can haer them more clearly.

Ancillary Texts Ideas and Research

A POSTER FOR THE FILM-

•Here for this poster there are the central protagonist characters in the point of view of the audience.
•There is in small print at the very bottom of the page giving the copyright issues and the characters name in the film and in real life.
•There is a star rating at the top of the poster to allow the audience to know the quality of the film is reflected by critics.
•There is also towards the bottom of the poster there are logos of production and distribution companies.
•There is a slogan or tag line which creates the feeling of the film towards the audience.

•The main image on the poster and the one which appeals to the audience is the central protagonist to clearly signify this.
•There is also an image with another central character.
•Both of the visual images of the characters on the poster have there names by the side of them by having a saying such as 'Starring......', the size of the text descibing the character depends on the size of the image which is shown.
•There is also yet again a tag line which gains the audiences attention as they want to find out more and maybe watch the film.
•The title is shown in the centre of the page in big bold writting which attracts the attention of the audience.

•The central protagonists are shown on screen as they are the largest image on screen (emphasized).
•At the very bottom of the poster there is some small print giving out copyright details, characters names, production and distribution logos and also there is a website address.
•The characters names are also given in a clear perspective way close to the images (in this case underneath the picture image).
•There is a quote at the top which gives a brief summary towards the director.
•There is the sign of an award winning logo, which is like the star rating scheme so that the film can be showed off to the audience in a posstive way.

•This film poster has the central protagonists in the centre of the page.

Revised, Final Narrative, Storyboards and Screenplays

Below is the final idea and narrative to the story giving the shot types and what is actually going to happen step by step.

The title- 'Driven Away'

Characters- The Girl called 'Amy' aged 17 years old.
One of the male charcters called 'Johnny' aged 17 years old.
The second male character called 'Ben' aged 18 years old (Amy's brother)

Genre- The genre of this short film will be 'TV Drama' aimed mainly at the younger
younger audience as it is a drama about teenagers.

Final Synopsis-

•The title at the begining is a a white background with bold letters saying 'Driven Away' and the letters are flashing like a strobe light in a night club. This is intertextual reference with skins as there title is on a white background with scenery shown with the lettering of the name.
•First the short film starts with a flash back. It involves a low angle with the camera looking up towards the two male characters Johnny and Ben. When the camera is positioned on the floor using the low angle shot, it will be positioned next to Amy's shoulder as she is laying on the ground and there is visibility of blood on the side of Amy's cheek.
•The screen will then fade out slowly and immediatley go straight into the next scene.
•Then there's a close up of 'Johnny's' face looking directly inot the camera grinning.
•Using an over the shoulder shot of 'Johnny' the camera it focusing on the girl called 'Amy' across the room (this angle gives away what 'Johnny' is looking at). Amy is dancing with some of her friends (other girls).
•Swithching to a point of view shot from 'Johnny's' perspective he is focusing on 'Amy', then the camera pans left still using a point of view shot and it seems that 'Johnny' is looking around at other people dancing, but suddenly the camera quickly pans right (still using the point of view) and the girl, 'Amy' is with another male character called 'Ben' and he has his arm around her talking to her, this is the narrative enigma as we don't know who this boy is, it's polysemic it could mean many things (the character 'Ben' is actually 'Amy's' younger sister).
•The there's a close up of 'Johnny's' face showing his expressions as he looks puzzled and angry.
•Next there is a medium shot of 'Ben' with his arm around 'Amy' asking her if she is ok, however in the background we can see 'Johnny' storm over over and grabs 'Ben's' shoulder.
•There is then a close up of 'Johnny' shouting at 'Ben' telling him to get of her (Amy), then it switches to a close up of 'Ben' so the 180 degree rule is used here. 'Ben' is telling 'Johnny' to calm down.
•Then there will be a medium shot of 'Johnny' grabbing hold off 'Amy' shouting at her and insulting her.
•A close up shot is shown next of 'Ben's' hand grabbing hold of 'Johnny's' arm using a slight dutch angle.
•Then there will be a long shot with the cameras facing the two male charceters, then we see 'Ben' push Johnny towards the door shouting at hime telling hime to get outside. 'Ben' pushes 'Johnny' past the camera carrying on shouting.
•We are then outside so the tone of the music will quiten down. A low angle is used and we see the front door open as 'Ben' is still pushing 'Johnny' past the camera with a crowd of people following behind.
•Then there is a medium shot from a side view of the two male charcters pushing each other and we see them finally square up with each other.
•Using the 180 degree rule we see a close up of 'Johnny's' face saying 'lets settle this', then it switches the 'Bens' face and he says 'fine' and then lastly it switches to'Johnny's' face again and he says 'get in your car'.
•Using a long shot we see both of the male characters get into there cars and reverse seperate ways of camera.
•Using a long shot the camera focuses on 'Johnny' in his car whilst reving the engine. then it switches to a long shot of 'Ben' in his car also reving the engine.
•Then there is a close up of 'Johnny's' face as we see him gripping hold of the steering wheel, this is also shown of the charcter 'Ben', a close up of him gripping the steering wheel.
•There will then be a close up of the front right wheel of each car still reving there engines and suddenley they will speed off spinning there wheels moving past the camera.
•Then there will be an over the shoulder shot of each character driving the car (so the camera will be filming in the back seat of the car). this will be done in 'Johnny's' car first seeing 'Ben' moving towards him. This will then be filmed in 'Ben's' car also showing 'Johnny' coming towards him.
•Then there will be a medium shot of 'Johnny's' car coming towards the camera and then it will switch to 'Ben's' car also coming towards the camera.
•Then there is a slow motion shot of the girl, 'Amy' running out of the front door towards the road, she will go out of sight on the camera as she runs past it towards the road. this shot will be a normal medium shot.
•Next the camera will switch back to a close up of 'Ben's' face and we suddenly see his face lights up, this signifies that the other car is close to him and he turns the steering wheel and swerves out of the way of the oncoming car which 'Johnny' is driving.
•There will be a sudden black blank screen with the sounds of a tyre screatch and the girl 'Amy' screaming and then it goes silent.
•The black screen will fade into the next shot. The camera will be a high angle shot, as well as panning following the girl 'Amy' beeing dragged across the floor. She is then laid on the ground and then the camera zooms in to a close up of 'Amy's' face as her face is pale and has blood on her head and cheak.
•Lastly the screen will fade out to a black background and the titles will roll down the screen (looking as if they are driven away)in plain white text along with sad dull music which will eventually fade out when the titles stop.
